Floating Trousers In The Air

Have you seen Breaking Bad? Do you remember the beginning of it? In my humble opinion, it is the best beginning of a story I have ever seen.

Many writing ideas drift in my head but when I try to write them down it sticks somewhere between the mind and the body.

In Tibetan Buddhism, it’s called the “Body-Speech-Mind” connection. Body and mind are connected by speech. That’s why they sit in a lotus position while saying and counting mantras. The visualisation of a Buddha or Bodhisatva on top of the head of a practitioner. Saying a mantra and counting mantras with a mala — prayer beats.

Buddha- mantra- lotus posture. Mind-speech-body.

Om Mani Padme Hung.

Writing is the same. The connection is broken if there is not enough repetition. Without practice, there is no learning. This is my short meditative practise on writing.

If you are tired and bored of an endless flow of “How to…” articles on Medium delete your reading history and check out the work of Mike Knittel and Kristen Stark. If you like satire they are the authors to go to.
